Hello!
I’m glad you’re here, and I’m excited to share a little bit of my story with you. It's one that weaves together creativity, purpose, and a deep commitment to justice.
My journey feels like a tapestry woven with threads of creativity, purpose, and a deep commitment to justice. It is a story that intertwines art and advocacy, guided by a passion for equity and a belief in a world free from discrimination.
As an artist and an advocate, I have always sought to empower the less fortunate and amplify voices that are often unheard. My path has been shaped by empathy, work ethics, and a life lived with intention—where every creative endeavor reflects the world I aspire to help build: one where every voice matters, and every individual has the opportunity to thrive.

Roots by the mighty Brahmaputra

I was born in a quiet village in Assam, where the mighty Brahmaputra flowed just a few kilometers away and the majestic hills of Arunachal Pradesh stood sentinel in the distance.
My childhood was shaped by nature—lush greenery, dense forests, and the world’s largest tea estates stretching far and wide, alongside vast paddy fields that seemed to merge with the horizon. It was a serene and timeless landscape, brought to life by the symphony of birdsong, the rustling of trees, and the harmony of animals weaving through our daily lives. Ducks, chickens, goats, cows, and dogs were not just companions but family, teaching us invaluable lessons in coexistence and connection.
Born into an intercaste family of purpose and passion
At the heart of this idyllic world was my family. My father, Nabajyoti Sharma, was a man of intellect and conviction, leading the chemistry department at the local college. But his true passion lay in social justice. He dedicated his life to empowering women, educating the underprivileged, and promoting STEM, while fervently opposing caste, gender, and social inequities.

He founded his own NGO and exposed me to the transformative power of activism by taking me to villages society often ignored. I vividly recall visiting a community of morticians where he worked to break gender norms and promote education. These experiences shaped my understanding of fairness and ignited a desire to fight injustices in all forms.

My mother, Jayashree Bora, was no less remarkable. A brilliant science teacher, she graduated with top honors, distinctions in botany, and was the undisputed topper of her college. Known fondly as the "Queen of Melody" in her hometown, she balanced her academic accomplishments with a profound love for literature and classical music.

Our home was alive with poetry, song, and dance—my father’s verses and my mother’s enchanting ragas wove magic into our everyday lives.
The Artistic and the Advocate
Inspired by my parents, I trained in classical singing and dance, discovering in these forms a way to explore identity and expression. Dance, in particular, became a lens through which I learned about LGBTQ+ issues, body positivity, and self-acceptance.

Simultaneously, my parents nurtured my curiosity with a constant stream of books, offering windows to diverse worlds and ideas. These influences encouraged me to dream of a society where art, advocacy, and equity intersect. I realized that my voice, creativity, and compassion could drive change—whether for gender equity, human rights, or animal welfare.
The Lesson on Empathy and
Interconnectedness
Growing up so close to nature and surrounded by animals, I developed a deep sense of empathy that has remained with me throughout my life. Our animals—ducks, chickens, goats, cows, and dogs—were more than just companions; they were family, each one offering lessons in coexistence, care, and respect. Living alongside them nurtured an understanding of the intrinsic worth of every creature and the interconnectedness of all life.

This philosophy was reinforced by the teachings of Srimanta Sankardev, who said, “Kukura Shrigalo Gadarbharu Atma ram, janiya xabaku koriba pranam,” or “The supreme Lord stays even in the souls of dogs, foxes, or donkeys. Knowing it, do respect all living beings.” This idea, passed down through my family, taught me to see the divine spark in all creatures and to honor life in every form. This grounding in compassion has shaped how I approach both my personal and professional life, guiding me toward empathy as a cornerstone of my interactions and creative expressions.
Shaped by Values, Guided
by Dreams
Looking back, my upbringing feels like a confluence of intellectual, artistic, and ethical influences that shaped not only my worldview but also my career.
My father’s activism instilled a deep commitment to justice, while my mother’s artistic spirit nurtured my creativity. Together, they taught me to dream of a world where dignity, opportunity, and equality belong to everyone.

Today, I strive to live by the values instilled in me. My work as a creative and an advocate continues to evolve, but its foundation remains firm: fairness, equality, and respect for all. The lessons I learned in that quiet village by the Brahmaputra guide me every day as I work to build a better, more compassionate world.
